Newman (5-1, 3-1 TRAC Rock) buried Mercer County (1-5, 0-4 TRAC Rock) early in a 46-7 win over the Golden Eagles at Roscoe Eades Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Comets led 28-0 at the end of the first quarter and held a 40-7 lead at halftime.
Matthew Blackert rushed for 91 yards and scored a rushing touchdown, returned a punt for a score, and returned a fumble for a touchdown.
With the loss, Mercer County will miss the postseason for the second straight year.
