The Rockridge Rockets became the first program to finish with back-to-back undefeated championship seasons with a 5-4, 11-inning win over Freeburg in the 2A title game at the Louisville Slugger Sports Complex in Peoria. A two-out RBI double by Keaton Frere scored courtesy runner Taylor Dieterich with the tie-breaking run in the top of the 11th. Freeburg’s Maddy Schwemmer’s one out double put that lead in jeopardy but the Rockets Kendra Lewis was able to pitch out of the jam to preserve the victory. The Rockets finish the season at 35-0 and have now won 65 in a row heading into next spring’s season.
