A sentencing hearing has been continued to later this year for a Sherrard woman found guilty of 11 felony animal cruelty counts. The new date was set Monday in Mercer County Circuit Court during an appearance for 61-year-old Karen Plambeck. She was scheduled to be sentenced Sept. 16, but her new attorney asked for and was granted the continuance to Oct. 11.
Plambeck was found guilty during a bench trial last March.
She was charged following an August of 2022 investigation where 198 dogs were rescued from her property.
All 198 dogs were forfeited to the care of Mercer County Animal Control. Over $170,000 worth of veterinary and boarding costs were introduced as evidence in a court hearing in September of 2022.
