Orion (4-1, 1-0 TRAC West) defeated Mercer County (4-1, 0-1 TRAC West) 60-54 in the Golden Eagles’ TRAC debut Tuesday.
Mercer County led 40-35, its biggest lead of the game, in the final seconds of the third quarter, but Maddux Arnold made a three-pointer at the buzzer to close the gap to 40-38. The Chargers outscored the Golden Eagles 22-14 in the fourth to earn the win.
Kyler Owens led Orion with 21 points. Duncan Adamson, 18, and Jake Bainbridge, 10, also were in double figures for the Chargers.
Carson Boelens netted a game-high 22 points for Mercer County. Brady McPeek added 10.
The Golden Eagles committed 16 turnovers in the loss.
