Mercer County (5-3) defeated West Central (2-3) 14-12 in a high-scoring baseball game Monday.
The Golden Eagles scored the first 11 runs of the game and led 11-0 in the top of the fourth inning. West Central responded with 11 unanswered runs of their own, including nine in the bottom of the fifth, to tie the game 11-11 in the sixth inning. Mercer County plated three runs in the top of the seventh to get back in front for good.
Kale Breeden hit a home run and drove in two runs in the win. Carson Boelens went 1-3 with three RBI for Mercer County at the plate.
