Manual (20-12) defeated Macomb (25-6) 65-46 in the semifinal round of the IHSA 2A Sherrard Sectional Tuesday, avenging last season’s shocking postseason loss to the Bombers.
The Rams never trailed in the game after opening the night on a 5-0 run. Macomb responded with five unanswered points to tie the game, but Manual went on to outscore the Bombers 10-1 the rest of the quarter to hold a 15-6 lead at the end of the first. It was 38-17 at halftime and 54-33 through three.
Dietrich Richardson netted a game-high 24 points for Manual. Josh Humbles added 12 in the win.
Braden Holthaus paced Macomb with 18 points. The Bombers committed 19 turnovers in the loss.
Manual advances to Friday’s sectional championship game against either Sherrard (29-3) or Tri-Valley (26-6).
