The Mercer County Search and Rescue (MCSAR) Fiesta Night Fundraiser was a resounding success, raising $1,000 to support the organization’s essential equipment needs. Held on February 22 at the Mercer County VFW, the event brought the community together for a night of great food and generosity.
“I could not be happier as to how it turned out,” said Tammy Friedel, VFW Post 1571 Auxiliary President. “The public really came out and supported a great cause.”
In addition to the $1,000 raised, MCSAR took in over $200 in tips, further boosting their ability to purchase much-needed radios and other equipment to aid in search and rescue missions.
“Well, it’s hard to put it into words when we get donations like this,” said MCSAR member Gary Heard. “When we can get donations to buy things to help our volunteers and assist the community, it’s wonderful.”
MCSAR, which was founded 13 years ago, consists of 44 trained volunteers who assist local law enforcement in missing person searches, evidence recovery, and public safety efforts at community events. The funds raised during Fiesta Night will contribute to purchasing additional radios, generators, and other equipment necessary to improve their effectiveness in the field.
Tammy Friedel emphasized the importance of supporting local organizations like MCSAR. “These people are here for you. You never know when you’re going to need them. Anytime you get the chance to support anybody, please do so because it really helps your heart.”
The successful fundraiser highlights the strong bond between MCSAR and the Mercer County community. For those who were unable to attend but still wish to contribute, donations can be made directly to Mercer County Search and Rescue.
Thanks to the generosity of attendees and donors, MCSAR is better equipped to continue their lifesaving work. The organization looks forward to continuing their mission with the continued support of the community.
