The Illinois High School Association (IHSA) released sub-sectional seeds for the upcoming girls basketball state series Thursday.
Sherrard earned the No. 2 seed in the local 2A sub-sectional, which splits 12 teams into two regionals. Peoria Notre Dame, the defending 2A state champion, was tabbed as the No. 1 seed. Monmouth-Roseville, No. 3, and Canton, No. 4, rounded out the top four.
The full 2A Deer Creek-Mackinaw Sub-Sectional A seeds are listed below.
The top-four seeds are traditionally split up with the teams seeded No. 1 and No. 4 going to the same regional site and the teams seeded No. 2 and No. 3 heading to the other regional host. The rest of the teams filter to the regional site that’s closest geographically.
Orion and Knoxville are hosting the two regionals that make up the sub-sectional. Deer-Creek Mackinaw is the sectional site, while the super-sectional is at Bureau Valley.
The IHSA will release the full girls basketball postseason pairings Friday afternoon.
The girls basketball postseason tips off on Sat., Feb. 15.
