Sherrard (18-5, 8-1 TRAC West) clinched the TRAC West girls basketball championship with a 53-49 win over Monmouth-Roseville (20-10, 5-4 TRAC West) at home Thursday.
Monmouth-Roseville opened the game on a 6-0 run, as Sherrard didn’t score until there was 2:18 left in the first quarter. The Titans led the entire first half and Monmouth-Roseville’s largest lead was 19-11 in the second quarter. The Tigers closed the deficit to 23-20 at halftime. Sherrard took a 37-36 lead at the end of the third quarter and pulled out the win in a back-and-forth fourth quarter.
Adalynn Elsbury paced Sherrard with 14 points. Violet Meskan added 11 in the win. The Tigers connected on eight three-pointers and shot 11-14 from the free-throw line.
Brianna Woodard scored 13 points for the Titans. Mia Reynolds added 12.
