The motto at the Mercer Foundation for Health is, “Helping the people who help you.” Foundation Director Al Zwilling says that is the goal of a charity golf outing in June held by the Mercer Foundation for Health. Zwilling says their efforts to bring more healthcare providers to Aledo have been successful in the past.
“For the past 10 years, we have sponsored nurse and healthcare scholarships, which means we will support individuals who are going to become CNA’S, those who are interested in getting their associate degrees in nursing, their bachelor’s degrees in nursing, or their master’s degrees in nursing, if they will stay at the bedside. We’re also helping to support medical lab technicians because we have another real shortage in that area and we have also supported mental health services and sonographers in the radiology department. And so the Foundation has moved its latitude not just beyond nurses, but realizing healthcare is a broad array of services that keep us all healthy. And so this will be the eleventh year.”
The Golf Outing is June 21st – and the money raised will be put towards scholarships. Eighty-five scholarships have been awarded to future medical providers over the past 10 years. Contact Zwilling at 582-9256 if you would like to sign up for the golf event.
