Donald L. Miller, 74 of rural Joy, Illinois, was surrounded by family as he passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2023. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m., Monday, October 9, at Dennison Funeral Home, Aledo. A celebration of Don’s life is 2 to 7 p.m., Saturday, October 14, at The Depot, Aledo. Memorials may be left for St. Jude’s or MCHS FFA.
Donald Lee was born March 3, 1949, in Galesburg, Illinois, the son of Glen E. and Gail E. Barnhouse Miller. The Westmer High School graduate went on to receive his Associates Degree at Muscatine Community College. On October 5, 1968, he married Drusilla Willits Crose in Eliza. He had worked as a seed salesman then later at Liqui-Gro. His lifelong passion was for the land and farming, he loved his work. The connections he made in farming led to him be an inspiration for many future farmers. Don was an avid outdoorsman, doing anything outside, fishing, or hunting and he was happy. His greatest joy was time spent with friends and family, especially his grandkids.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife: Dru; children: Darrin and Ann Marie Crose, Kevin Miller, and Leslie and Cassandra Hallstrom; grandchildren: Abigail, Keegan, and Drake; triplet great grandchildren: River, Novah, and Jasper; as well as his dogs: Tinker Bell, Bigsby, and Spike.
