New Mercer County School District Deputy Superintendent Stacey Day says she wants to shine a positive light on the district as she takes over.
Day, who is currently serving as acting superintendent of the district, started in the role on July 1. She spoke to WRMJ about her goals leading the Mercer County School District following a challenging 2025-26 school year, saying there are a lot of positive things that go on.
During the course of the previous school year, three Mercer County School District employees were arrested in an improper access to medical records investigation, another former staff member pleaded guilty to a felony following an inappropriate messaging investigation, the district cut 25 positions in a cost-saving measure, and had to cancel the first day of school because of significant mold found in the high school.
Day was signed to a four-year contract in March.
