The Mercer County School District has postponed its first day of school until Monday because of mold found at the high school.
In a message to parents in the school district, the Mercer County School District said high school staff detected significant mold in the classroom portion of the building. Custodians and district staff will be working to rectify the issue on Thursday.
As a result, classes are canceled district-wide on Thursday and Friday.
The district says it is working closely with sanitation and air quality experts.
Mercer County was scheduled to start the school year on Thursday.
Voters in the Mercer County School District turned down a $28 million referendum for improvements to Mercer County High School in April.
