Charlene M. Quinn, 73 of East Moline, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at her home surrounded by her family. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m., Saturday, June 7, at the New Boston United Methodist Church. The funeral service will directly follow at 11 a.m. Burial is in New Boston Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be left to the family of Charlene Quinn to continue her legacy through the Little Free Food/Blessing Pantries in Mercer County. Charlene was born on March 8, 1952, to Charles William and Marion Marjorie (Gibbs) Long in Aledo, Illinois. She graduated from Westmer High School in 1971. Charlene married Jerry Quinn on January 20, 2015, in Aledo. He passed away on May 17, 2018. She was employed as a nurse’s aide at the former Georgetown Nursing Home in Aledo, and later was a baker at Hardees in East Moline.
Charlene loved to go to car shows and cruises with her husband, step daughter, and step son in law. She also loved to sew, knit, and crochet and enjoyed making blankets, scarves, etc., for Veterans, fundraising benefits, and those in need. Charlene would make gift baskets for silent auctions/basket raffles and baked goods and volunteered her time in many local events. She volunteered for the New Boston Fire and Ambulance Fish and Chicken Fry by participating in the parade signup as well as being a parade judge and helping with the Free Kid’s Games. She was involved in other various community wide fundraising events such as the annual community Halloween party, Santa’s visit at the annual community Christmas party, Vilomah Veteran’s Fund, and spent time making baked goods and volunteered her time in support of the Methodist Church Chicken and Noodle Supper. Charlene actively supported 10 food/Blessing Boxes within Mercer County and summer lunch program at the Keithsburg First Christian Church. She was also a former Girl Scout Leader for the New Boston Girl Scouts.
Those left to cherish Charlene’s memory include her brothers, Donald Long, Delbert (Helen) Long, Daniel Long, Dennis (Cyndy Moulds) Long, and Donavon (Susan) Long; her sister, Cheryl Long; nephews, Andrew (Jessica) Long and Tristan Long; great-nephews, Nathaniel and Jeremiah Long; stepchildren, Jodi (Steve) Palmer and TJ (Heather) Scranton; stepsisters, Melody DeSchepper and Valory Huys; four step-grandchildren; step-great grandchildren; and several step-nephews, step-nieces, great step-nephews, great step-nieces, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry; her parents; stepmother, Lois (Neal) Long; sister, Christine; brothers, Charles Jr. and David; stepbrother, Bruce Stoneburg; and stepsister, Judy Condrack.
