Local sports results are presented by MercyOne Genesis Physical Therapy.

Sherrard (11-3, 1-2 TRAC West) beat Mercer County (13-3, 2-2 TRAC West) 5-4 at home in softball Monday.

The Tigers opened the scoring with a Savanah Hauger RBI single in the bottom of the third inning. Mercer County answered with a pair of runs on a two-RBI single by Patyon Ruggles in the top of the fourth. Sherrard plated four in the bottom of the fourth, three of the runs came after a two-out error, to take the lead for good. Marisa Neels, Makensie Westfall and Nadia Anderson drove in runs in the frame. Alivia Gillespie brought the Golden Eagles within a run with a two-run home run in the sixth, but that’s the closest it would get.

Hauger allowed four runs (two earned) on five hits in seven innings to pick up the win for the Tigers. She struck out eight batters in the game.

Gillespie was tagged with the loss for Mercer County after giving up five runs (two earned) in six innings on nine hits.
