With the start of the 2026-27 school year here, the Rockridge School District’s brand-new centralized elementary school is one year away from opening its doors at the start of next school year.
The new building is being constructed south of the existing Junior/Senior High School in Edgington. It will house every pre-K through fifth-grade student in the Rockridge School District, essentially creating one campus for all K-12 students.
Rockridge School District Superintendent Marcus Bush provided an update on the project to WRMJ this week.
Rockridge currently has three elementary school locations in Andalusia, Illinois City, and Taylor Ridge. Those will all close when the new elementary school opens.
The project also includes the addition of air conditioning in the Junior/Senior High School.
