A jury trial has been pushed back two months for an Aledo man facing attempted murder charges.
The trial for 23-year-old Brody Esp has been rescheduled after the defense filed a motion to continue during a final pre-trial conference in the case on Friday. It will now start on Oct. 26 after originally being set for Aug. 27.
Esp was arrested by Aledo police in January 2025 following a report of a domestic disturbance at the Buttonwood housing addition in Aledo. During the incident, a press release from the City’s public relations firm said Esp threatened to kill officers and fired a round from a semi-automatic handgun in their direction.
He’s facing four Class X felony counts of attempted murder, a Class 3 felony of aggravated discharge of a firearm, a Class 3 felony of threatening a public official, and a Class A misdemeanor of resisting arrest/obstructing duties of a police officer.
Esp has been in custody since his arrest at the Mercer County Jail.
