The owner of the now-closed Miguel’s Grill & Bar in Aledo says she notified employees of her plans to close the restaurant and reopen it as another Judy’s Family Cafe location in 2026, which contradicts what former employees of the business have claimed following Miguel’s early closure on Sunday.
In a statement released to WRMJ, owner Judy Wang wrote, “Miguel’s Grill & Bar closed as part of a planned transition and rebranding. Management-level discussions regarding the transition took place prior to the closure. Juan was aware of the situation, and his uncle, Miguel, had discussed the transition with him approximately one month in advance.
During this period, employees were informed that they were welcome to assist at our Galesburg location if they wished, and that once the transition was complete, they would be welcome to return at any time. Employees who preferred to remain in Galesburg were also supported.
Out of respect for individual privacy and internal business matters, we won’t be commenting further. Our focus remains on completing the transition and continuing to serve the community.”
Last week, Wang said she plans to renovate and remodel the building and open Judy’s Family Cafe in May 2026 in Aledo.
