Alan Boucher’s first week as interim superintendent of the Mercer County School District is wrapping up.
Boucher, along with Scott Petrie, was appointed to the position last week following the district placing superintendent Tim Farquer on paid administrative leave. Farquer and two district IT workers, Amberly Norton and Andrea Long, were arrested last Wednesday following an investigation by the Aledo Police Department into a complaint accusing Mercer County School District employees of illegally accessing students’ medical records. Farquer, Norton, and Long are each charged with a Class A misdemeanor of unauthorized access to medical records, a Class A misdemeanor of computer tampering, and a Class 3 felony of official misconduct.
Boucher served as superintendent of the Aledo and then the Mercer County School District from 2007 to 2015.
He says he wants to be open with everyone during his time in the position.
Boucher will serve as interim superintendent for 120 days. Petrie, who was the Mercer County School District superintendent from 2019 to 2024, will take over for the next 120 days.
