A big milestone for a community fundraising effort by Mercer Market this weekend.
The store’s Saturday pork chop cookouts, which benefit local charities and non-profits, will surpass $250,000 raised all-time on Saturday. The proceeds have always gone directly to the group that’s grilling that day. More than 30 local charities and non-profits have benefited from the effort.
Mercer Market owner operator Jeff Sedam says there will be special prizes to commemorate the milestone.
The pork chop cookouts started in 2008. It will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday.
