An Aledo man charged with attempted murder has been ruled to fit stand trial. The order was entered Monday in Mercer County Circuit Court for 22-year-old Brody Esp.
He was arrested by Aledo police following a January 26 domestic disturbance at the Buttonwood housing addition in Aledo. During the incident, Esp threatened to kill officers and fired one-round from a semi-automatic handgun in their direction, according to a press release from the city’s PR firm. No one was injured.
Esp is facing four counts of Attempted Murder, Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, Threatening a Public Official, and Resisting Arrest/Obstructing Duties of a Police Officer.
A preliminary hearing is set for March 31. Esp remains in custody at the Mercer County Jail.
