Rockridge, Mercer County and Sherrard all rolled to blowout wins in the opening round of their respective holiday tournaments Thursday.
Rockridge (8-4) clobbered Camp Point Central (3-9) 70-25 at the Macomb-Western Holiday Tournament. The Rockets opened the game on a 22-2 run and led 41-9 at halftime. Caleb Cunico scored 24 points and Landon Bull added 15. Rockridge plays Illini West in the quarterfinal round Friday at 4 p.m.
Also in Macomb, Mercer County (7-6) drilled Pittsfield (5-5) 64-36. The Golden Eagles led by as many as 32 points in the fourth quarter. Carson Boelens paced Mercer County with 23 points, Brady McPeek scored 14 and Lincoln Scott added 10. The Golden Eagles take on Macomb in the quarterfinal round Friday at 7 p.m.
Sherrard (11-1) crushed Alleman (1-11) 72-30 at the Mike Hutchins Holiday Classic. The Tigers opened the game on a 13-0 run. Rylan Carton scored a game-high 23 points for Sherrard and James Blackwell had 20. Sherrard plays Byron in the semifinal round Friday at 7 p.m.
