Saturday Sports: Rockridge Rebounds, Hands Seneca First Loss

Rockridge (3-3) snapped a three-game losing streak in boys basketball with a 61-48 win over Seneca (5-1) at the Eastland Shootout in Lanark Saturday.

The Fighting Irish made four of their first five three-point attempts in the first quarter to jump out to an early 18-8 lead. The Rockets closed the gap to 20-19 at the end of the first quarter and took a 35-25 lead at halftime. Rockridge led by double digits the entire second half.

Landon Bull netted a game-high 20 points for Rockridge. Baylen Leemans added 19 points and Wade Richhart scored 14 in the win.

Paxton Giertz poured in 18 points for Seneca, which made him the all-time leading scorer in Fighting Irish basketball history, now with 1,860 points for his career.
