The Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Girls Basketball State Finals will remain at CEFCU Arena in Normal through the 2029 state tournament, the association announced Thursday.
The IHSA and Illinois State University (ISU) reached a five-year contract extension for the girls basketball state finals, which have been hosted by ISU since 1992. Horton Fieldhouse, also on the university’s campus, was the inaugural IHSA Girls Basketball State Finals site in 1977.
The IHSA approved a change to the state finals schedule earlier this month. It will remain a three-day event, Thursday-Saturday, but qualifying teams are now guaranteed a two-day experience.
The IHSA and University of Illinois reached a five-year contract extension for the boys basketball state finals in April, which will keep the boys basketball state tournament at State Farm Center in Champaign through 2029.
