Rockridge (23-3. 10-1 TRAC West) won its eighth consecutive Three Rivers Athletic Conference (TRAC) championship in softball Wednesday with a doubleheader sweep over Sherrard (18-8, 8-3 TRAC West).
The Rockets won the first game, 3-2. Rockridge broke a 2-2 tie by scoring a run on a two-out error in the bottom of the fifth inning. Sherrard stranded runners at second and third base in the top of the seventh. Kendra Lewis (15-3) took the win after allowing two runs on nine hits in seven innings. She struck out eight batters. Savanah Hauger (11-4) was the losing pitcher in game one for Sherrard. She gave up three runs (two earned) in five innings.
Rockridge won the second game of the doubleheader, 6-3. Both teams scored three runs in the first inning. The Rockets added a run in the third and two in the fourth on a two-run home run by Emma Kramer. Madelyn David also drove in two runs in game two. Taylor Dieterich (6-0) threw six scoreless innings in relief to earn the win in the pitchers circle. Danni Neppl (7-4) took the loss for Sherrard after allowing three runs in six innings.
Lewis was intentionally walked in all seven of her plate appearances across the two games.
The Rockets have won a conference championship every season since 2016.
