The family of a fallen Knox County Deputy is receiving an early Christmas gift. The Tunnel to Towers Foundation has paid off the mortgage of Nicholas Weist’s family. Authorities say Weist was setting up spike strips at US 150 near Alpha when he was hit and killed by a fleeing suspect in April 2022. The suspect is set to go on trial in February.
Weist began his law enforcement career with the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department and Aledo Police Department.
