Police Chief Chris Sullivan confirms three cars stolen from Aledo neighborhoods. The crimes occurred late Thursday night or early Friday morning. One of the vehicles was recovered in Aledo and the two others in Viola with one of them wrecked. Another attempted steal occurred in Aledo, but suspects were not able to get the car out of the driveway.
Sullivan also tells WRMJ that there were several car break-ins in Aledo. The investigation is continuing. It is believed the suspects are from the Quad Cities. Anyone with information on the crimes is asked to contact Mercer County Crime Stoppers at 582-3500 or toll free at 800-582-2762. Sullivan reminds residents to be vigilant—keep valuables out of cars, remove keys, lock doors, secure garage doors and utilize exterior lights in parking areas. Also, he says if you see suspicious activity, alert authorities.
