Construction underway on an elevator project at the Mercer County Courthouse. Work began Monday and the Mercer County Board learned this week that an aggressive schedule is in place with hopes of a completion date by early January. Montie Schell is the Mercer County Public Building Commission Chairman.
The Schumacher Elevator Company of Denver, Iowa has been awarded the contract. They submitted a base bid of $138,500. An alternate courtroom has been set up on the first floor of the courthouse for those that cannot access the regular third floor courtroom via stairs.
