A Mercer County animal cruelty case has been continued to next year for a Sherrard woman. Karen Plambeck appeared in Mercer County Circuit Court Monday morning with the matter continued to January 11. The case involves four horses she owned. Accusations involve failing to provide the animals a sufficient quantity of good wholesome food. The horses received body condition scores from a licensed veterinarian of 2, 3, 3 and 3 out of a possible score of 9, with a score of 1 being emaciated. Plambeck faces five misdemeanor counts. She has pleaded not guilty to the charges. She posted $1,000 bond and was released from the Mercer County Jail shortly after her arrest in October of 2019. The court entered an order last January allowing her to travel to Iowa and Florida.
