West Central fell just short of advancing to the 1A IHSA Softball State Finals in a 6-5 loss to Dakota at the Sterling Super-Sectional.
The Heat (33-3-1) led 3-0 before Dakota scored all six of its runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. West Central plated two runs in the top of the seventh, but couldn’t tie the game.
