Violet Davis, 99 of Seaton, died Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Seminary Village, Galesburg, Illinois. Private graveside services will be at Candor Cemetery. Public visitation is from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., on Saturday, April 25, at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the Seaton Fire Department.
Violet was born on September 10, 1926, in Monmouth, Illinois, to Charles and Estella (Long) Van Eaton. Violet and James Earl Davis were married on January 12, 1947, in Seaton, Illinois. He preceded her in death on April 30, 1988.
Violet was a dedicated homemaker and farmwife. She enjoyed cooking for everyone, especially for family gatherings at Christmas and family fish fry’s. She was a talented quilter, hand quilting all her quilts. Violet gifted her quilts to family and friends. She was a member of the Center Presbyterian Church in Seaton.
Those left to cherish Violet’s memory include her children and their spouses, Dean and Bonnie Davis, Jamie W. and Jean Davis, and Paula Davis; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Krista Nickolaus; and sisters, Pauline, Betty, Maxine, and Jane.
