Treva Joyce Easter, 77 of Moline, Illinois, formerly of Matherville, passed away Monday, September 8, 2025, at UnityPoint Trinity Hospital in Rock Island, Illinois. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., on Monday, September 15, at Fippinger Funeral Home in Aledo, Illinois. The funeral service will directly follow at 12 p.m. Burial will be in Farlow Grove Cemetery, Matherville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Matherville Fire Department. Treva was born on August 15, 1948, in Bradleyville, Missouri, to Bernie and Goldie (Lawson) Hurst. She was the fourth child born to the family. Treva graduated from Bradleyville High School in 1966. She was very proud of her hometown, Bradleyville; they had three state basketball championships in her high school days. She still loved to watch basketball on TV especially Indiana Fever.
Treva married Basil Easter on October 4, 1968, in Rock Island; they were married for 56 years. In 1974, she helped her husband start a hospital equipment repair business, Easter Services Inc. In 1996, she again helped her husband start another business, Easterville Inc. For 27 years, Treva handled the paperwork for The Little Store of Matherville which was the last business venture for her and her husband. They both retired from the store in 2023.
One of Treva’s passions was cooking especially very large family meals during the holidays. She enjoyed her private time but also loved spending time with her family at get togethers. A high point in her life was when her first great granddaughter Adele was born; their bond between each other was a huge enjoyment to her. Treva also liked looking into her family history and had done extensive genealogy on her and her husband’s families. She had an excellent memory in recalling birthdays, how many children they had, and many more things.
Treva was passionate about reading. She had an extensive book collection that she was very proud of. Treva also had been an avid bowler when her children were young even though she ended with the wrong foot. Her favorite TV show was Jeopardy, and she was good at trivia as well.
Those left to cherish Treva’s memory include her husband, Basil of Moline; a daughter, Tileaka Shay of Branson, Missouri; a son, Lenard (Charlene) Easter of Matherville; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and a brother, Jody Hurst of Selah.
She was preceded in death by her parents; infant brother, Lenard; and two sisters, Verna and Eva June.
Treva will be dearly missed by all of her family and friends.
