Sherrard’s run of eight straight girls regional basketball titles came to end Thursday night in Hamilton as host West Hancock beat the Tigers 52-40 in the Class 2A regional championship game. Taylor Barber lead Sherrard with 20 points. At Knoxville, the host Blue Bullets beat the Farmington Farmers 39-30 for that crown. At Tremont, Midwest Central beat El Paso-Gridley 48-27 and at Havana Camp Point Central stopped Eureka 47-43. Those four regional winners will advance to the Farmington sectional.
In Class 1A, Annawan won their tenth straight regional topping Ottawa Marquette 68-36 in Ottawa. Brimfield beat Stark County 55-36 for the Stark County regional title.
