If you’re walking the midway at the 2025 Rock Island County Fair and catch the scent of jumbo all-beef corn dogs or spot a line for fresh-squeezed lemonade shake-ups, chances are you’re near Snazzy’s—Aledo’s own favorite.
Run by Rusty Smet and his family, Snazzy’s is back in East Moline for its eighth season, bringing bold flavors, heartfelt service, and a true small-town spirit to the fairgrounds. “We’ll be here all week, Tuesday through Saturday, noon to 10—maybe later if there’s still a crowd,” Smet said.
What started as a middle school fundraising project for Rusty’s daughter, Shaylee, has blossomed into a full-fledged family business. “She was 12 when she started Snazzy’s to raise money for her eighth grade DC trip,” Rusty recalled. “She’ll be a senior in college next year—and this is what’s paid for it.”
Snazzy’s is best known for its signature lemon shake-ups—made from fresh lemons, pure cane sugar, and a homemade simple syrup—as well as jumbo corn dogs that have become a must-try among fairgoers. “We really try to put out the best product,” said Smet. “If someone’s going to spend their money, we want it to be right.”
For many, Snazzy’s isn’t just a food stop—it’s a little piece of Aledo tradition.
