A Quad Cities area woman charged in a rural Sherrard drug-induced death investigation will return to court in October.
54-year-old Susan McFalls of Colona appeared in Mercer County Circuit Court on Monday, where a pretrial conference was continued to Oct. 19.
McFalls is charged with first-degree murder and a Class X felony of drug-induced homicide via accountability stemming from the death of Anthony Qualls of rural Sherrard in December 2023.
McFalls was granted pretrial release in May 2024.
A co-defendant in the case, 43-year-old William DeWitt of Milan, is due back in court on Oct. 5 for a status hearing. He’s facing charges of first-degree murder and a Class X felony of drug-induced homicide.
DeWitt was released from custody with GPS tracking in January after his defense filed a motion for release. He had been in custody at the Mercer County Jail since his arrest in April 2024.
