Sherrard (16-2, 5-0 TRAC West) pulled away from Mercer County (7-13, 0-5 TRAC West) in the second half of a 62-43 win at Harry Hunt Gymnasium Friday.
The Golden Eagles led 12-9 at the end of the first quarter and extended the lead to 24-14 midway through the second. After a timeout, Sherrard answered with a 37-7 run that spanned parts of the second, third and fourth quarters to lead 51-31 in the fourth. The Tigers’ biggest lead was 21 points.
Rylan Carton scored 21 points to pace the Tigers. James Blackwell pitched in with 15 and Carter Brown added 13. Sherrard poured in 11 three-pointers in the win.
Carson Boelens netted a game-high 22 points for Mercer County.
