Coming off the back of state finals appearances, both Rockridge and Ridgewood had two players selected to the Illinois Softball Coaches Association (ICA) all-state first team over the weekend.
Rockridge senior Kendra Lewis was selected as a Class 2A first team all-state player for the fourth consecutive year. She finished the 2024 season with a 23-4 record in the pitchers circle with 0.69 ERA and 231 strikeouts in 162.1 innings pitched. For her career, Lewis had an 86-4 pitching record overall and a 25-1 mark in the postseason. At the plate this season, Lewis hit for a .510 average with eight home runs and 53 RBI. During her four years at Rockridge, the Rockets went 134-5-1 and won three state championships.
Rocket junior Taylor Dieterich also earned Class 2A first team all-state honors this season. Dieterich hit .433, a team-high 11 home runs, and had 41 RBI in 2024. In the pitchers circle, Dieterich went 6-0 and allowed 11 earned runs in 54.1 innings.
Rockridge sophomores Charley Perkins and Madelyn David were named to the ICA all-state second team, along with Mercer County sophomore Natalie Thomson.
In Class 1A, the state champion Ridgewood Spartans had senior Mya Brown and junior Gabby Dean named first team all-staters. Brown went 23-3 with a 1.80 ERA and 330 strikeouts in 174.2 innings pitched this year. She also hit .396 with five home runs and 30 RBI. Dean led the Spartans in batting average (.450), home runs (6), and RBI (38). She went 9-2 in 16 pitching appearances.
West Central junior Addie Seitz was also a Class 1A first team all-state honoree.
Ridgewood senior Clara Franks and freshman Mackenzie Peck and West Central senior Shelby Bowman and freshman Miley Stimpson were second team all-state selections.
West Central freshman Becca Hinshaw was named a third team all-state player.
