The Rockridge Rockets survived an early punch but rebounded to fight off Eureka 55-48 in the IHSA Class 2A Sectional semi-finals at Mendota Wednesday night. The Rockets jumped out to a 5-0 lead but the Hornets answered with an 11-0 run. Eureka built the lead to nine but Rockridge rallied to trail 21-18 at the half. The Rockets then took a 37-34 lead after three and the two clubs traded leads in the fourth quarter before Rockridge was able to open up the winning margin. Nate Henry lead Rockridge with 17 points and freshman Landon Bull had 16, 11 in the third quarter. Rockridge improved to 24-6 and will play Farmington Friday night for the title.
In Class !A, Augusta Southeastern ended the United Red Storm’s season at the Abingdon Sectional 51-35.
In Junior High Volleyball, Sherrard won the Monmouth-Roseville 7th grade regional championship defeating Rockridge in straight games 25-22, 25-21.
