Construction continues on the new centralized Rockridge Elementary School.
It’s been six months since the school district held a groundbreaking ceremony for the project, which is building a brand-new elementary school just south of the existing Junior/Senior High School in Edgington. It will house every pre-K through fifth-grade student in the Rockridge School District.
Rockridge School District Superintendent Marcus Bush says watching the progress unfold is exciting.
Bush says the new elementary school remains on track to open in the 2027-28 school year. Rockridge currently has three elementary school locations in Andalusia, Illinois City and Taylor Ridge.
The project also includes the addition of air conditioning in the Junior/Senior High School.
Voters in the Rockridge School District overwhelmingly approved the project to build a centralized elementary school in November 2024.
