A Wisconsin man charged in an incident at Aledo’s Dollar General last spring, has returned to Mercer County Circuit Court. Probable cause was found at a preliminary hearing Monday morning. 49-year-old Miguel Angel Valadez Cortes of Beloit was arrested May 27. He faces felony charges of aggravated battery in a public place and unlawful restraint. The allegations involve a woman in the store. Cortes is also facing a misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct. He has posted bond and will return to court Aug. 16 for a pre-trial conference. Testimony in court indicated Cortes was serving as a Dollar General truck driver at the time of his arrest.
