Orion Withstands Late MerCo Rally, Wins First Conference Game

Orion (10-18, 1-7 TRAC West) defeated Mercer County (13-15, 3-5 TRAC West) 41-39 to win its first conference game of the season in girls basketball Monday.

The Chargers led 26-18 at halftime and extended the lead to 38-27 at the end of the third quarter. Mercer County opened the fourth on a 12-0 run to take a 39-38 lead with under a minute to play. On the ensuing possession, Kamryn Brown buried a three-pointer to put Orion ahead for good.

Brown scored a game-high 14 points in the win.

Molly Hofmann had 12 points in a losing effort for Mercer County.
