Orion defeated Mercer County 50-42 in boys basketball on Friday to complete a regular-season sweep of the Golden Eagles.
The Chargers (18-6, 5-1 TRAC West) took a 17-7 lead early in the second quarter, before Mercer County responded with a 10-0 run to tie the game 17-17. Orion answered with a 5-0 run to re-take a 22-17 advantage and held on to a 24-21 lead at halftime.
The Chargers outscored the Golden Eagles 15-8 in the third quarter and led 39-29 heading to the fourth. Orion led by as many as 14 points in the fourth quarter.
Kyler Owens scored 20 of his game-high 29 points in the second half to pace the Chargers.
Spencer Andresen led Mercer County (10-10, 3-3 TRAC West) with 12 points. Holden DeMuth added 11 points in the loss.
