Preemption, Ill. – The Mercer County Coroner has released the names of two men killed in a head-on collision Tuesday afternoon on U.S. Route 67 near Preemption.
Mercer County Coroner Greg Larson identified the victims as 63-year-old Michael Millizer of East Moline and 70-year-old Robert Haskins of Matherville. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash occurred July 23 when a southbound vehicle crossed the center line and struck a northbound vehicle, resulting in a head-on collision. Each driver was the sole occupant of their vehicle.
Emergency responders included the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office, Matherville and Sherrard Fire Departments, Advanced Medical Transport, Illinois State Police, the Illinois Department of Transportation, and the Mercer County Coroner’s Office.
The crash remains under investigation by the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office and Illinois State Police.
