Michael “Mike” W. Gregg, 72 of Viola, Illinois, passed away Thursday, July 17, 2025, at his home surrounded by family. Cremation Rites will be accorded, and a Celebration of Life will be held from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m., Sunday, July 27, at the United Community Church in Matherville, Illinois. Memorial contributions may be left to the United Community Church. Dennison Funeral Home, Viola, is in charge of arrangements. Mike was born on March 7, 1953, in Moline, Illinois, to Cliff and Audrey Niemann Gregg. He graduated from Winola High School in 1972 and was employed as a truck driver for many years; he retired from Yellow Transportation in 2020. Mike loved to play music and was in several bands over the years. He enjoyed playing guitar and singing. Mike also liked playing cards. Mike loved to drive around on his ATV with his grandkids and dog, Scooter.
Those left to cherish Mike’s memory include his children, Sunny (Joel) Sandry of Donahue, Iowa, and Travis (Becca) Gregg of North Henderson, Illinois; the mother of his children, Monica Gregg of Viola; three grandchildren, Addyson, Ethan, and Natalie; siblings, Amy Jo (Duane) LaMere, Jackie Hanson, Judy Young, and Gary (Bobbie) Gregg; mother-in-law, Alice Meier; brother-in-law, David Meier; sister-in-law, Johnna Meier; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers-in-law, Hank Hanson, Gerry Young, Daniel (Chip) Meier, and Darrell Pollock; a niece, Jenny; a great nephew, Dalton; and father-in-law, John G. Meier.
