Merle A. Robbins – Services 1/24/25

Merle A. Robbins, 65 of Gerlaw, Illinois passed away at home on Tuesday, January 21, 2025. Visitation is from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., Friday, January 24, followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. at Dennison Funeral Home, Viola. Burial will be in Candor (Pope Creek) Cemetery, rural Aledo. Memorials may be directed to the family.

Merle Allen was born July 18, 1959, in Aledo, Illinois, the son of William Junior and Mabel Esther Welch Robbins. He attended Seaton and Aledo schools. Merle married Ellen Combs then later Tammy Robbins. He had spent the last 22 years with his love, Stacie, the couple wed on January 18, 2025. Over the years, Merle has worked in construction, pipeline, cutting trees, and as a diesel mechanic. In the past he worked as a farm hand for Truman’s and Adelman’s. More recently he worked for Jeff Gregory and did dirt-work for Meeker’s. In his free-time, he enjoyed hunting and, in his younger days, fishing.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Stacie Kolb – Robbins; children, Tabitha Peterson, Bridget Billmeyer, Tara (Keith) Aylors, Lyle (Heather) Robbins, and Trisha Robbins (Justin Kidd), as well as Stacie’s children, Joseph Kolb and Takoda Newberry; 11 grandchildren; sisters, LaDonna (Mike) Mayfield and Diana (Tim) Tromblee; step-siblings, Tim (Diana) Tromblee and Claudia Tromblee; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Marshall Welch, Robert Robbins, and Kyron Robbins; and sisters, Roberta Robbins and Katherine Brock.
