A recent Mercer County graduate in the running for a national award from FFA. Nicholas Close was the State Proficiency Winner in Diversified Crop Production Entrepreneurship last spring. The state award allows him to compete at the national level with his national application sent last Saturday.
Close’s project started with 55 acres and now includes 112 acres. He’ll find out about the national award in September. Close will attend the University of Illinois in the fall, studying farm business management.
