Mercer County Rolls Over Rowva-Williamsfield

In their first game at almost full strength, Mercer County rolled over Rowva-Williamsfield 62-22 in Lincoln Trail Conference football. Due to a lack of officials, the game was moved to Thursday but the Golden Eagles were ready to go with all but a few players eligible to play after dealing with Covid 19 protocol the first four weeks of the season. Mercer County jumped out to a 22-0 lead but the Cougars rallied to cut the lead to 22-8 and had the ball on the Golden Eagles 2 yard line but the defense held. Mercer County then went 98 yards in just over two minutes and scored just before half time to retake control of the game. David Meece lead the offense with 238 yards rushing on 19 carries and four touchdowns. Quarterback Matthew Lucas ran for one score and passed for another as the Golden Eagles piled up 503 yards of total offense. Mercer County heads to Princeville next Friday.
