Mercer County hunters harvest 618 deer during the first firearm weekend Nov. 16-18. The number is 100 more than last year. The deer harvest was also up statewide. Jackson County took in the most deer at 1,717. The second and the final firearm deer season in Illinois is Nov. 29 to Dec. 2.
