Mercer County Better Together’s (MCBT) inaugural “Night in a Car” event was a big success over the weekend.

It raised more than $10,000 for the Mercer County Housing Emergency Fund, which helps local families needing housing assistance.

The event, which served as a fundraiser and homeless simulation, took place from Friday night into Saturday morning at the Mercer County VFW in Aledo with participants spending the night in their vehicles.

MCBT Executive Director Kyle McEwen, speaking on Saturday morning, says it was a great turnout.

Last year, $7,400 in the Mercer County Housing Emergency Fund helped 20 families secure stable housing.
