Joyce Marlene was born on August 21, 1933, in Aledo, Illinois, to Ernest and Nettie (Russell) McCaw. She was a graduate of Aledo High School, then married the love of her life, Earl Robbins, on September 5, 1953, at the Aledo United Methodist Church. He preceded her in death on August 12, 2023.
Joyce enjoyed working on the 3rd generation family farm near Burgess. Over the years she was also a switchboard operator, worked for Monmouth Stoneware, and was a greeter at Wal-Mart. Her true vocation was being a mom and grandma. She never missed anything her children and grandchildren were involved in. She helped with ACE Camp, Peppy Partners 4-H Club, and at the Merchants Building at the Mercer County Fair. Joyce was a talented seamstress, sewing both everyday and formal clothing for her family. She also sewed for Formfit and Smalgers in Monmouth. Sharing her love of gardening and painting was something she loved to do with her family. Camping and fishing at Big River was a getaway the whole family enjoyed. Joyce was also known as the best shot in her family.
Joyce and Earl were members of Burgess United Presbyterian Church, then Sunbeam United Presbyterian Church, where they helped with Youth Group and Joyce sang in the choir. She attended Ohio Christian Church in her youth. Joyce and the neighbor ladies loved the get togethers and card playing with the Laugh A Lot Club.
Joyce is survived by her children and spouses, Robert and Susan Robbins of Branson, MO, Ronald Robbins of Aledo, and Reneé and Steve Lloyd of Aledo, and grandchildren, Shay and Ashley Robbins, Nick Robbins, Shantell and Colton Matney, Blake and Katherine Robbins, Joe and Allie Elliott, Bree Wakeland, and Kevin Lloyd. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her sister, Jean Struble.
